DoubleTree Cranberry renovated to target meetings and gatherings by Mick Tan. October 11, 2016, 6:44 a.m.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh-Cranberry completed a multimillion-dollar renovation and is the brand’s first hotel north of the city of Pittsburgh. The project revamped everything from the exterior of the building, including the porte-cochere and parking lot, to the interior including the atrium and lobby space, meeting areas and ballroom.

The DoubleTree Cranberry now has new furnishings and the open concept atrium and lobby area were transformed to a functional space designed to accommodate corporate meetings and gatherings. Situated in the center of the atrium is the new Ember & Vine, Woodfire Oven and Social Bar.

The property has 23,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The hotel’s seven conference rooms were upgraded with “smart” room capabilities, including HD televisions, laptop compatible projectors and one touch digital lighting with audio control power sources.

Other property features include an expanded fitness center with new equipment, business center and indoor/outdoor pool.

The grand ballroom is 13,440 square feet, making it the largest hotel ballroom in suburban Pittsburgh. The space can be divided into eight smaller sections and was upgraded with new wall coverings, carpet, light fixtures, doorways and sound system and has the capacity to host events for up to 900 people.

Guestrooms were updated with new artwork and headboards.

Dining news: Ember & Vine is open

Tribune-Review Tuesday, October 4, 2016, 7:24 p.m.

Ember & Vine Woodfire Oven and Social Bar has opened at the newly renovated DoubleTree by Hilton Pittsburgh-Cranberry.

Chef Sam Castrale, who started his career in New York City and spent time in Austin and Seattle before moving to Pittsburgh, has developed a menu that showcases his “scratch cooking” philosophy.

The menu will feature specialties from the restaurant's custom-made woodfire oven — such as the potato pizza with thinly sliced Yukon gold potatoes, fresh rosemary, provolone, pecorino, arugula and garlic oil, as well as chef favorites such as the pan-roasted wild-caught filet of fish with celery-root puree, and house-cured duck Reuben with pastrami and sauerkraut.

Ember & Vine Woodfire Oven and Social Bar in the Atrium of the hotel is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
